Adelaide Festival Centre
King William St, Adelaide
Adelaide Festival Centre has hosted an annual UNESCO International Jazz Day concert since 2017. This year, another exciting concert will be held at the Dunstan Playhouse.
Entrance
Enter by foot from North Terrace, Adelaide Railway Station, Adelaide Oval, or King William Road. From North Terrace, walk down the laneway alongside SkyCity Casino. From King William Road, walk over Festival Plaza (there is a lift and escalator down to the Playhouse level) or along the Walk of Fame from Elder Park.
Accessible dropoff
The drop-off area is located off Festival Drive under the Riverbank Footbridge. A designated disability drop-off is also available 45 minutes before performances. To access this drop off area, turn onto Festival Drive from King William Road, pass the Festival Plaza car park entrance and stay left, driving through the EOS Hotel visitor drop off loop to arrive at the Dunstan Playhouse access drop off.

Hal’s Hall
Off Gate 14, Kintore Avenue – The University of Adelaide, North Terrace, Adelaide
Since April 2023, the jazz department at the University of Adelaide has presented concerts in the Madley Rehearsal Studio, also known as “Hal’s Hall”. The concerts – programmed and run by Dr Lyndon Gray and the Jazz Students Union (JSA) with the generous support of the Elder Conservatorium – have showcased a wide array of high-profile international and interstate acts (Matthew Sheens, Michelle Nicolle, Barney McAll) as well as up and coming local performers.
The name is a tribute to the late Hal Hall, a beloved jazz lecturer integral to setting up the jazz course in the early days and an iconic presence around campus for decades.
The venue boasts a central location and a grand piano.

Institute Building, State Library of South Australia
Corner of North Terrace and Kintore Avenue, Adelaide
The State Library of South Australia’s Institute Building joins AJF as a new jazz venue.
Opening its doors in 1861 the Institute has a rich cultural history as home to SA’s first public library, art gallery and museum. Throughout its life, it has welcomed many artists, performers, and speakers.
Boasting a grand piano in one of its spaces, it’s a special place to enjoy live jazz.
While you’re there, explore the iconic Mortlock Chamber, current exhibitions, and enjoy a snack at the State Library Cafe.
The Grace Emily Hotel

The Grace is a live music icon in Adelaide. No pokies, no TAB – just good vibes, a cosy atmosphere and a warm fire for cool nights.
The Grace has supported weekly jazz jams on Wednesday nights for many years, and has hosted the AJF’s curated series of emerging jazz fusion bands for the past three years.

Located on the city’s north-eastern fringe, Ern Malley bar has been hosting live music every Friday night for a little over 80 years (give or take 80). With a splendid outdoor courtyard and an intimate interior featuring an upright piano, it has become the secret bar that everyone is talking about.

The Lab
